I'm a mover and a shaker and a full-time music maker
-
August 27, 2010
The 9 to 5'er in me has finally been 86'ed. After missing musical opportunity after opportunity, due to time restrictions, I've finally taken the plunge and am now pursuing my musical endeavors full-time. YES! This has been a much anticipated new chapter in my life and I'm really happy and excited that Nashville has such a lush music environment that folks, like me, can actually DO what it is they were meant to DO and make a living doing it. Thank you Thank you Thank you!
So, to all you musical folks out there who have been itching to work with me... Bring. It. On. :-) My calendar is already filling up quickly, but there are now 24 hours in every day that are mine-all-mine and I don't plan on wasting 'em!
I'm a mover and a shaker and a full-time music maker...
Wired for Sound
-
September 17, 2009
Crazy. I'm currently sitting on the couch at DT's house listening to one of our new tunes being piped through his "wired for sound" house... you can even listen in the bathroom if you're so inclined...but yeah, I'm not that inclined tonight. It's so weird...it's almost as though you can literally hear me evolve with every note. I'm so in love with Nashville! There is no other place on the planet you can go and become so enmeshed and influenced by country music that you start writing electronic music... :-) Life is amazing and good and a blessing. Brace yourself, a full bloom is coming.
Made a Move...

September 29, 2008
Soo..for those of you who've visited my Myspace page recently you may have noticed one little change next to my photo at the top... instead of "Burlington, VT" it now says "Nashville, TN." Yep, it's true. I made the move closer to the south, closer to Music Row, closer to my family, and closer to my country roots. :-) It's been a HUGE adjustment, but I think I'm finally starting to feel a little less like an alien and more like a person in Nashville. So, now that I'm slightly adjusted to the area I'm about to take a few weeks and hang out in Texas. I kinda want to yell at myself, "Stay put already!", but alas..I've got a travelin' itch I need to scratch. Also, while in Texas, I will be playing a couple dates at the Conroe Cajun Catfish Festival. I LOVE this festival..where else can you walk around with a basket of fried food and a beer and feel right at home? It should be a fun time... Until the next time I get a wild hair for journal-writing...take care! xo, DeAnna
So much to say, so much to begin

April 9, 2008
The end of 2007 was a whirlwind...and the beginning of 2008 has been a whirlwind...and here I am, finally, taking a breath and a moment to reflect on everything. Whew. Breathe. Lets see, here are some musical highlights from the past few months:
-I played at Club Passim in Harvard Square in March, 2008
www.clubpassim.com
-I purchased a video camera and have been taping shows in hopes that I can figure the damn thing out and post some videos. :)
-I opened for Richard Julian at Nectars. YAY!
-I was a finalist in the Advance Music Singer/Songwriter Competition
-I've been getting some nice press (check out the press/review link)
Hmmm...I'm sure there is a ton more, but I'm blanking and need to go check the laundry. Oh yes, laundry. I'm currently sitting on the couch watching my cat burrow herself into the pillows on the bed in the other room and pondering laundry. Yes indeed, laundry. Oh right...I have relocated to Portland, Maine for the month of April...that's news, right? I needed a change of environment in hopes that it would stimulate the songwriter in me, but all I've been doing is laundry. haha I should be upstairs writing some new tunes...but alas, laundry it is. At least they have decent mexican food in Portland...and last night I went out for lobster. YUM. It's all about the food and laundry... Time to motivate motivate motivate..
My CD Review!
-
September 6, 2007
This morning I woke up, got a cup of coffe, sat down to check my email, and was appropriately blown away by what was in my in-box. A CD review...my very own CD review! I started reading it and couldn't believe my lil eyes...is this about my album?! Yes, yes indeed. :) Click on the press link to the left to read it...
Morning Musings
-
August 24, 2007
So I was thinking this morning, while drinking my green mountain coffee, how much I absolutely love living in Vermont. When I was a wee one I never envisioned myself living anywhere other than Texas, but now that I'm here...it's nice. If you've never visited Vermont I highly recommend it...especially during the fall when the mountains look like a Robert Frost poem. Hmm...I should become a spokesperson for the Vermont tourism board. :) I was also thinking that I should try to update this journal/news section a little more frequently...lets keep our fingers crossed that I have some follow-through. :)
Welcome to the new site!

August 8, 2007
Ok, so I kept checking out my old website and while I loved the deep colors, it was just too damn dark! So..voila! It's-a-new website for all! Much easier to read and navigate...make sure to stop by the "leave me a note" section and let me know what you think. There are some new photos and new show dates... and a new bio to be posted soon.

CD Release Show Thank you's!
-
May 17, 2007
It's taken me a few days to update this journal because I've seriously been sitting here in my living room staring at the wall in utter disbelief at how well the CD Release show was received. I can't believe you people...the sheer number of you there..well, you definitely made my night! I am so appreciative that y'all took time out of your relaxing weekend to check out my show...and I'm overwhelmed by the number of CDs I sold and all the kind words y'all spoke after the show. Seriously, you guys are the BEST. A special thank you to the "Sweet D" crew, who showed up despite their hectic hospital and school schedules to support me... A shout out to my lovely parents for flying in all the way from Texas to watch their "little girl" debut her first CD...and to all the musicians who played with me that night: Colin McCaffrey, Michael Close, Tim Sharburgh, Lane Gibson, Chuck Eller...thank you for being so phenomenal at what you do. Hope to see you all at the next one! Take care y'all...
CD RELEASE PARTY!!!
-
April 29, 2007
YES. OH YES. The time has come for one and all...and every single one of you..to raise up off your couches and chairs and study nooks and work crannies and bring yourself (and 5 friends) to Nectar's on Main st. in Burlington, VT for a 7pm show that'll knock yer socks off! Alright, it'll probably be sandal weather by May 12th (fingers crossed) so I'm hoping you won't be donning sandals and socks..but if you are, your socks will surely be missing by the end of my show. :) CDs will be on sale, drinks will be had, songs will be sung...your arse will be THERE.
The Rumors Are TRUE...

February 20, 2007
After many bumps and bruises and pit-stops I have FINALLY made it into the studio to record my album.. WOOHOO! I started recording on February 6th and am crossing my fingers for all recording to be completed the week of March 5th. After that, it'll be mix and master time! I'm hoping to have the CD ready to go (and ready for store shelves) by mid-April / early-May. In the meantime, I will be posting random rough mixes on the site just to give y'all lil tastes of what may be, or may not be, on the album. :) Be sure to check out a show(s) because I've got a few on the calendar... P.S. I'm sure every musician says this about the current album they're working on, but I'm CRAZY about the work I've been doing. Lane and the folks at Charles Eller Studios are amazing...they help me sparkle. :) Until next time..or until I decide I'd like to ramble again.
adios,
DeAnna
p.p.s. the rough clips are up under the music section..check 'em out.

November 26, 2006
Lo and behold, I had a fantastic time playing at Langdon St. Cafe last night. Everyone was sooo amazingly sweet and the crowd was awesome. I love this venue! As an unexpected, but welcome, bonus last night I got to open for Anais Mitchell and FDR. :) Check both of them out:
www.anaismitchell.com and
www.fdrmusic.com I was completely honored to play before them and if y'all get a chance you should go see both of their shows. I'm so easily sidetracked..haha.. Back on track: Thank you to everyone who came out last night to LSC to check me out..and thank you to those who didn't come specifically to check me out but did listen sooo intently. Y'all are gems. xoxo Until next time...

October 10, 2006
My birthday was completely awesome...thank you thank you thank you for everyone coming out and making my lil gig at Radio Bean rock. I'd also like to thank everyone for their contribution to the tip jar... We are all BROKE (I know this...) so it means more than you could possibly ever know that you guys spared what you could to help support me. A million thousand thank yous aren't even close to expressing how appreciative I am... y'all are wonderful!

September 18, 2006
A huge "thank you" to everyone who came out last night to Radio Bean. The show was a wonderful introduction to the music scene in Vermont and I can't wait to play again for you folks. Next time, oh yes, there will be more banter. :) Also, a huge thank you to the med students who took time out of their busy studying schedules to come check out my set. I appreciate every single one of your bright and smiling faces! Pics will soon be posted of the gig...courtesy of the lovely Emily.
Gig-a-liscious!
-
August 28, 2006
Alright folks...I'm getting gigs! You know what this means, right? Right. COME TO MY SHOWS. Hopefully, if everything goes as planned, I will have a new sample/demo CD to hand out at these shows to prepare y'all for the album which will be coming early 2007. I'm so excited!
p.s. Wish me luck...I'm in the process of relocating to Vermont this week and I can barely walk due to an unfortunate episode with a boulder on Hampton Beach. Figures. haha.
Technologically Defunct.
-
August 11, 2006
Hi.
I bought this website thing-a-ma-jig with total faith that I, being a technological genius (please note sarcasm), would be able to build an amazing site and throw it up there on the www for the world to see. Well, it's taken MUCH longer than I anticipated and after many hours of scrutinizing over this thing I've decided to do what any other technologically deficient musician would do...give up and post what I've got. :) Enjoy!
